Okay. Okay. Okay.

I'm still doing stuff.

I'm trying to do stuff right now (struggling not to pounce a WaveBird gamepad and start Brawling).

Okay.

See?!

A watercolor painting of my cousin Ernie Manansala Jr. and his new fiancee Audrey (something). The space measures 14x17. I did it in five hours---finished at 5am. (I start working at the loveliest hours.)

On Saturday, Ernie proposed on Audrey's surprise birthday party (which was a surprise) at which her family (based in Chicago) also attended (also a surprise). Hours later, he gathers all the guests around, thanks them, calls me over with my painting, drops down to one knee and pops the rock (ultimate surprise?). It was kind of cool because he thinks I'm this "great artist". What wasn't cool was that he said in front of everyone that this was my first official painting! I've painted before. Dozens. Right?

Oh. Here's another, I think. The gouache painting I did for Illustration I in Fall 2007. I hope it's finished. The composition is kind of boring in retrospect, because it's just all middle-ground. But, I got extra points from Dittrich for art directing.

Anyway.

What's everyone's Super Smash Bros. Brawl Friend Codes?
Let's procrastinate together.

Please? I think.

If I could get gouache to behave like that for me I'd be the happiest person in the world. Please, tell me your secrets? I'll give you a cookie lol

Awesome work, I look forward to future posts :)

Echoing Jess' envy.

What paper are you using?

Narciso said...

There shouldn't be any envy. It's not like I finished the gouache painting over night. It took months to get it looking like that. (Those months are combined with procrastination and hesitation). It's really just a lot of working at it.

But um, the water color painting is on Fabriano watercolor paper from a pad, and the gouache is on good ol' illustration board.

More info buddy, what lbs, cold or warm press?

Narciso said...

The watercolor paper is 300g/m2 (square meter?). Whatever that means.

The illustration board is one layer.

Both materials are acid free.

Does not state if the papers are recycled, which kind of upsets me.

Happypeepeehead said...

My observation has been that recycled paper is usually more likely to not be acid free.
